Real wedding: Andrea and Sina

A long distance relationship that became a wedding with a view!

Andrea dnd Sina met in France while holidaying. Sina originally from Iran, met Andrea when she was living in Paris.

The ceremony was done partly in Farsi, and I learned of the Persian tradition of both bride and groom giving each other a taste of honey. They exchanged spoonfuls along with exchanging the rings! They also gave guests a small jar of honey as bonbonierre, which was a sweet touch (sorry for the pun.)

Chatting with Andrea and Sina in the lead up to their wedding, they had 2 main requests.

The first was to help embarrass Andrea’s friend who famously loved to sing karaoke after a few drinks at every event, so we planned to thrust this friend into the spotlight by announcing an impromptu karaoke session for her. We were not disappointed! Everyone gathered around for a breathtaking rendition of Whitney Houston’s “I will always love you” from The Bodyguard.

The second request was that they weren’t sure how to handle the end of the night, and wanted a bit of guidance on how to end things. I suggested that we could play it by ear and see how they felt then and there.

When it came to nearing the end of the night, I checked in with Andrea and Sina. They both agreed that they were having way too much fun on the dance-floor, and wanted to keep partying! . We agreed to keep the music playing right to the end, rather than cut things short to have a formal farewell. I just announced when the last song would be, in order to maximise the dancing time.

I will also note – one of the great things about having your wedding at Q station on a Saturday night is that you get to see the Sydney harbour fireworks! A nice touch to the already beautiful setting.

Andrea and Sina, a big thank you to you both for a wonderful night!
