Real Wedding: Chris and Tansy
Â
A music loving groom who took the lead in the planning!
Normally when I speak with couples, it’s usually the bride to be who is the main decision maker. When it came to music, it was clear when we spoke on the phone that Chris was the big music fan of the two. Chris took the lead in organising me as the DJ for his wedding and sending over his music suggestions in the lead up to it. Chris was a big EDM and trance fan, he and several other wedding guests had recently travelled to Belgium for the iconic Tomorrowland music festival.
Our lovely bride for the evening, Tansy, was more concerned with keeping the dance floor going and hearing accessible, crowd pleasing music for everyone. I proposed to play the party favourites earlier in the evening, and then kick things up to some club tunes for the latter half, and that’s what was agreed.
The Ceremony
It was a Friday, and I was back again at Centennial Vineyards. The day began with some fickle weather, the ceremony was moved to inside, then thankfully it cleared up last minute and we were able to have a lovely garden ceremony, with Gaye Davies hosting as celebrant. Dom Helson also had to move his setup several times from inside to outside – no easy feat! Once he got things set up, Dom played in the courtyard for the ceremony, and continued for the cocktail hour, while Ella, Zoe and Rosie from Maple and June captured it all as a triple-treat treat of Photographer, videographer and content creator.Â
The Reception
We stepped inside the beautifully decorated room by Florals & Fika. As the evening rolled through, we heard some amazing speeches, notably from the father of the bride and the mother of the groom while we ate dinner.
It then came time to dance! As planned, we started off with some retro and pop party hits. I could already tell all of Chris’ Tomorrowland mates were eager to get dancing – I saw them waiting in the wings for things to kick up a notch. As promised, I jumped on the microphone about halfway through the night and announced it was time to get into the trance and club tunes. I played some Above & Beyond, Bag Raiders, Avicii, SHM, Deadmau5, Ivan Gough, and similar. The energy was insane! They wanted to keep partying to the end, so we didn’t stop the music for a farewell to maximise the time on the dance floor until it was closing time.Â
Chris and Tansy, what a night!Â
