Real Wedding: Helena and Nicholas
A Bride who made her own dress! Helena has a passion for sewing (and quite the instagram following!) So much so, that she committed to sewing her own wedding dress – and what a beautiful dress it turned out to be, as all the guests could attest, on a Sunday at the picturesque Botanical Gardens in Sydney.
The reception of Helena and Nick at Botanic House was an amazingly unique experience for me. In the weeks leading up to their wedding date, they had additional outside stresses to deal with. They were in the process of moving house which coincided with the timing of their wedding weekend, so Helena and Nick were happy for me to take the reins and make some executive decisions to select on their behalf for some of the music, which I was glad to help with.
As the evening rolled through we enjoyed some amazing food courtesy of Botanic House, and listened to some heartfelt speeches from family and friends of the couple, all documented by the team at Timeless weddings. The food, as always was brilliant – the venue trades as a restaurant during the week.
Helena and Nick also both had their own non-traditional views on some of the common wedding reception elements. They felt that having a day about them already was more than enough and they dint want to further the spotlight on themselves with any formal dances – no bridal waltz, no mother/son or father/daughter dance.
This meant we could open the dance floor for all as soon as the cake was cut, and everyone was very happy to get the party started! The house lights were turned down and the dancing began. Nicholas honoured his mother with a dance as guests joined in on the fun.
Everybody turned up for the dancing, hands in the air and singing along through the night, and we rounded the evening out with a bouquet toss, and a classic tunnel farewell.
