How To Nail Your Wedding Party Expectations

It’s normal to want everything just perfect. Here’s how you can set clear wedding party expectations and not just meet them, but knock them out of the park.

Clear Communication

Start with open chats with your partner. What do each of you dream of for your big day? Make sure you’re on the same page. Then, communicate these ideas clearly to your vendors, from the florist to the DJ. The more they know, the better they can deliver.

Realistic Goals

Set goals that make sense. Yes, you might want fireworks and a unicorn, but will your budget and venue allow it? Stick to what’s doable and you won’t be disappointed.

Flexible Plans

Some things might not go to plan. Maybe it rains, or the cake isn’t exactly as you pictured. Have a plan B for major elements like location or transport. Flexibility can save the day.

Delegate Tasks

You can’t do everything. Assign jobs to your wedding party or hire a coordinator. Let them handle details on the day so you can focus on enjoying yourself.

Feedback and Follow-Up

Check in with your vendors as the day approaches. A quick confirmation can prevent last-minute panics. After the event, if they did a stellar job, let them know. Positive feedback is always appreciated.

With these steps, you’ll not only meet your wedding party expectations; you’ll exceed them. Here’s to a day that goes off without a hitch and leaves you with nothing but fabulous memories.

Setting Wedding Party Roles

Not sure who should do what at your wedding? It’s common to feel a bit lost about assigning roles. Let’s help you put everyone in the right spot so you can relax and enjoy your big day.

The Best Man

The best man isn’t just there for the Buck’s night. He’s your go-to bloke for moral support, holding the wedding rings safe, and making sure the other groomsmen are clued up on what they need to do. He’ll also give a toast and keep things lively at the reception.

The Maid of Honour

The maid of honour takes the lead in helping the bride with the planning. She organises the hen party and is the main support on the wedding day itself. From fixing the bride’s train to handling any last-minute fixes, she’s pivotal. If it’s a large or restrictive dress, it’s the MOH’s job to assist the bride going to the bathroom.

Bridesmaids and Groomsmen

Bridesmaids and groomsmen support the couple. They help with organising the hen and stag events and are vital in setting up the venue. On the day, they’re there to make sure guests know where they need to be.

The Parents

Traditionally, parents often help with the financial side and provide emotional support. They might host some of the events and are usually involved in greeting guests at the wedding. It’s common for the parents to give speeches first.

The DJ/MC

A top-notch DJ or MC, like myself at Unity Entertainment, keeps the event smooth and engaging. They announce the proceedings, from your grand entrance to the cake cutting, making sure everyone’s having a great time. They read the room, and keep the party going when it comes time to dance.

Wedding Day Oops and How to Sort Them

Wondering what could go wrong at your wedding? It’s smart to think ahead about the little snags that might come up— so your wedding party expectations are met and exceeded!

Missing Rings

Those rings aren’t just pretty; they’re vital! Pick someone super reliable to look after them, so they’re right there when you need them.

Endless Speeches

Love the idea of speeches but worried they’ll drag on forever? It’s okay to nudge your speakers to keep things short. Maybe suggest sticking to around five minutes each.

Too Much Tipple

A little too much drink can lead to a lot of unexpected things. Keep a friendly eye on the bar and maybe slow things down if you see things getting a bit too lively. The main one to watch out for here is yourself. Your wedding day is a marathon, not a sprint. Enjoy yourself to be sure, but don’t get plastered too early.

Last-Minute Dropouts

What if someone in your wedding party can’t make it at the last minute? It’s a hassle, sure, but having a couple of backups ready can quickly fill any gaps.

DJ/MC No-Shows

Imagine a party without music or a host– not much of a party, right? To keep your dance floor buzzing, booking with Unity Entertainment is a smart move. We’re reliable and know how to keep the vibes going strong.

Catering Glitches

Did you forget to tell the caterer about Aunt Maud’s nut allergy? Double-check everyone’s dietary requirements with your caterer well before the day and have a few extra snacks just in case.

Inclement Weather

If it’s an outdoor affair, you need to be prepared for excess heat, cold, rain and wind. That means having an inclement weather option. This doesn’t necessarily mean you need to have a complete indoor structure as a backup venue (although that is the ideal solution.) Provide umbrellas for light rain, Shade umbrellas for the heat, and portable heaters and/or blankets for the cold. If it’s a known windy spot, then a marquee with walls or indoor alternative is the safest bet.

Getting ready for these little ‘oops’ moments means less stress and more fun at your wedding. A bit of planning and some smart backups can set you on track for the wedding of your dreams.
