Real Wedding – Lily and Josh

I got a random phone call on a Monday afternoon. The voice on the line told me her name was Lily, and that she and her Fiancee Josh needed a DJ to pay their wedding. The kicker to this was that it was only a few days away! Their original DJ had canceled on them last minute, and Lily and Josh were in desperate need of some entertainment for their wedding night.

I reassured Lily that I was happy to step in on short notice. Normally I do my planning and organising months and weeks in advance. I explained to Lily that, given the circumstances, if she could find the time in the next few days to let me know a few key details we could definitely make this work.

Lily gratefully obliged – so it was on! The night came shortly after, and I was 100% ready to rock and roll at the beautiful Robertson Hotel – a classic victorian venue with elegant timber furnishings and an old-school ballroom. Think of it as a real life Cluedo board – This place is classy!

Adam (Married by Adam) took the reins to officiate the ceremony, and then proceed as MC for the reception. This venue is a little different from most in that the dining room was seperate to the dancefloor, which is located in the ballroom, down the hallway and adjacent to the bar.

Adam did an amazing job to  carry the proceedings through dinner and speeches, and boy did he hype up the crowd! When it came time to dance, everybody spilled into the ballroom and danced and sang the night away.

Lily did a costume change into a more comfortable dress for dancing, and ditched the heels for some white sneakers. The party was on!

Later on in the night, as some of the aunts and uncles took a break, so the crowd now skewed a lot younger. those remaining on the dance floor went in something harder – so we ventured into some real clubby tunes – electro house, dubstep, drum and bass. The dancefloor felt like the heydays of Kings Cross!

Lily has since been a great evangelist for me and sending so many referrals and recommendations my way. Thank you, Josh and Lily!
