Real Wedding: Aleisha & Mitch’s Wildflower Farm Wedding in the Southern Highlands

Ceremony & Reception Venue: Growwild Wildflower Farm, Alpine

In our pre-wedding meetings, Aleisha and Mitch made one thing very clear: they didn’t want a wild, loud party. They wanted their guests to feel relaxed, welcome, and genuinely included — no pretension, no pressure, just a laid-back celebration surrounded by the people they loved. As their DJ and MC, that became my whole mission for the day: use the tone of my mic and the shape of the playlist to build that atmosphere, rather than force a big, heaving dancefloor that wasn’t really “them.”

Setting the Scene at Growwild

Growwild Wildflower Farm in the Southern Highlands is about as relaxed a wedding setting as you’ll find — 25 acres of working wildflower farm, a timber-floored marquee, and views that do most of the decorating for you. Fittingly, the venue’s own team handled the florals for the day too, and they did an amazing job, dressing the ceremony arbor and reception marquee with soft, natural arrangements that suited the setting perfectly.

A Relaxed Ceremony and a Very Popular Photo Booth

Guests gathered under Growwild’s timber hexagon arbor for the ceremony, with Rita O’Reilly of Divine Celebrancy guiding Aleisha and Mitch through their vows. From there, everyone moved into cocktail hour, and it didn’t take long for the photo booth — also provided by Growwild — to become the hit of the evening. Guests couldn’t get enough of it, and props from the booth kept reappearing out on the dancefloor for the rest of the night.

First Dance Under the Festoon Lights

Being early October, the weather played along nicely, and Aleisha and Mitch made the most of it with a genuinely gorgeous idea: taking their first dance outside the marquee, under the festoon lights, with guests gathered around waving sparklers. It made for some of the most memorable photos of the day and set an incredible tone for the party to follow.

Reading the Room

True to their brief, the later part of the evening wasn’t about a heaving, all-out dancefloor. It was about singalongs — guests swaying shoulder to shoulder, arms around each other, more focused on being together than on being loud. It’s a different kind of magic to curate as an MC, and this crowd made it easy. Fittingly, Aerosmith’s “I Don’t Want to Miss a Thing” went down an absolute treat right at the end of the night, closing things out exactly the way Aleisha and Mitch had pictured it.
